ALTERNATING CURRENT GENERATOR

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost by pushing a boss material into the longitudinal groove of an outer ring and blocking the turn while retaining the slide characteristics thereby eliminating the need of any special fitting ring. CONSTITUTION: A ball bearing is fitted in the sliding seat of a bearing shield during a caulking process where a boss material is pushed from the bearing shield into the groove of outer ring of the ball bearing. Four slits 14 distributed uniformly in the circumferential direction in the boss 10a of a B-bearing shield are formed by caulking and the material between the slit and the outer ring of the ball bearing is pressed, in the form of a thin material layer 15, onto the outer race such that the material layer reaches into the groove of outer ring of the ball bearing. Since the material is engaged in the groove through shape connection, rotation of the ball bearing is blocked surely and compensation of the axial length of bearing is sustained.
