SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC SENSITIVE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To enhance whiteness, sensitivity, and storage stability of a photosensitive material by using a specified sensitized dye stuff and incorporating a specified fluorescent whitening agent and a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material is provided on an opaque support with an emulsion layer containing silver halide grains sensitized with gold, and spectrally sensitized by the dye stuff represented by formula I in which R1 is alkyl; Z1 is an atomic group necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered hetero ring; Q is an atomic group necessary to form a 5-membered hetero ring; and m is 1 or 2. Said emulsion layer and/or other hydrophilic colloidal layer contains the oil-soluble fluorescent whitening agent of formula III and the compound of formula V, and in these formulae III and V, each of Y1 and Y2 is alkyl; each of Z1 and Z2 is II or alkyl; M is a metal atom or -NH4 or the like; and Z is an atomic group necessary to form a prescribed ring. Said formulae I, III, and V can be embodied by formulae II, IV, and VI and the like.
