It is the object of the invention to provide a towing coupling which can be locked in the open position, has a short overall length and a small outside diameter and is hence suitable for use in conjunction with small tractors. This object is achieved according to the invention by virtue of the fact that a slotted spring ring (3) is arranged in a free space (6) in the grip sleeve (5) formed on the side of the locking ring (7) facing in the push-on direction of the coupling sleeve (1), and that a back-up ring (2) having a supporting surface (4) is held in axially non-displaceable fashion on the end of the coupling sleeve (1) facing in the push-on direction, and that the internal bore of the slotted spring ring (3) is step-shaped in such a way that, starting from its side facing in the push-on direction, a first axially effective stop surface (11) and, at an axial distance from the latter, a second axially effective stop surface (12) with a smaller outside diameter than that of the first stop surface (11) are provided, and that, adjoining the second stop surface (12), an all-round bead is arranged on the slotted spring ring (3).
