METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING OLD PAPER

PURPOSE:To make decoding impossible without shortening paper fibers by tearing and grinding old paper and subsequently compressing and solidifying the ground paper to form small lumps. CONSTITUTION:Screw blades 5, 5 are rotated by a driver 9 through a chain 7. When old paper P is charged from a charging port 2 in this state, the old paper P is torn, ground and compressed by the tearing action due to the friction force between the mutual screw blades 5, 5 to be fed forwardly. A partition plate 13 is provided to the continuous part of a grinding casing 3 and a solidifying casing 11 and the ground paper P having a size capable of passing through the communication holes 14 of the partition wall 13 passes through the partition wall 13. The old paper P incapable of passing through said holes 14 is again ground up to the size capable of passing through the holes 14. By this method, post treatment becomes easy and the paper is advantageously regenerated.
