Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the magnetic recording medium which is excellent in corrosion resistance and durability by treating a magnetic thin film with a solvent having the evaporation rate higher than the evaporation rate of butyl acetate, then treating the thin film with a rust preventive. CONSTITUTION:The rolled raw sheet of a magnetic film is produced by a continuous vapor deposition device. The raw sheet is treated in the vapor phase of the solvent having the evaporation rate higher than the evaporation rate of the butyl acetate right after the production of the raw sheet; thereafter, the rust preventive is applied on the surface of the magnetic thin film. The deterioration in the quality of the raw sheet by the solvent vapor of the high evaporation rate is, therefore, prevented and since the solvent affinity on the surface of the magnetic film is enhanced, the next application of the rust preventive is uniformized. The corrosion resistance and durability of the thin-film type magnetic recording medium are improved in this way and the production yield of the medium is improved.
