Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To absorb shock effectively by forming a buckling part for generation of stress concentration at the bottom surface of a car body structure, which is located at the frontmore position of a front side member than the engine as oriented in the direction of the car. CONSTITUTION:When a car makes frontal collision with an obstacle P, an impact load is applied to a front side member 14, and part of it is buckled to cause the bottom surface 18c of a first cross member 18 to be pinched by an engine 17 and the obstacle P. Because an opening 18d is formed in this bottom surface 18c, stress is concentrated around this opening 18d to cause the bottom surface 18c to buckle easily. Accordingly the front side member 14 is free from application of a bending moment with an engine mount member 16 as the center. As a result, only a compressive load is applied to the front side member 14, and the collision load is absorbed through so-called accordion type buckling in good performance.
