Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To easily divide the liquid crystal display screen by surface brightness by synchronizing the power source for driving a back light with liquid crystal display unit driving signal data latch pulses. CONSTITUTION:A CL1 which is one of control signals of the driving circuit 11 for a liquid crystal display unit is connected to the frequency dividing circuit 17 of the driving circuit 10 for the EL back light. When the output of a pulse waveform whose frequency is divided by 100 through the frequency dividing circuit 17 is inputted to an oscillation circuit 16, the oscillation circuit 16 does not oscillate while the input pulse is at an H level, so the EL back light does not illuminate during the period. Namely, the back light brightness of horizontal line from the horizontal line at the uppermost stage on the liquid crystal display screen to the 100th horizontal line becomes lower than that of other horizontal lines. Consequently, the liquid crystal display screen can easily be divided by the surface brightness.
