PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL PARTS

PURPOSE:To integrate optical parts body and reinforcing members and to adhere and reinforce the optical parts in a short period of time by inserting an optical part body between the reinforcing members previously coated with a thermosetting resin and heating these members. CONSTITUTION:The reinforcing members 1 consist of glass plates 3 which are two sheets of holding members formed with a groove 2 on one surface. The surface formed with the groove 2 of these glass plates 3 is coated with the thermosetting resin 4 over the entire surface thereof. Known thermosetting resin, such as phenolic resins, epoxy resins and polyurethane resin, are used as the thermosetting resin. After jackets 6 on both sides of an optical coupler body 5 are pinched by the reinforcing members 1, these members are heated for a prescribed period of time at the temp. higher than the temp. at the time of half curing. The thermosetting resin 4 between two sheets of the glass plates as well as the groove 2, the optical coupler 5 and the thermosetting resin are completely cured in this way and can be securely adhered.
