MANUFACTURE OF BODY STRUCTURE FOR ROLLING STOCK

PURPOSE:To secure necessary strength for a body structure without increasing weight by attaching a requisite reinforcing material to a monocoque type outside plate, forming each bend part in proper spots in and around a plate corresponding to each part of the body structure, forming each structural block composing every part of the body structure, and welding these blocks with one another. CONSTITUTION:A body structure of rolling stock consists of symmetrical side structures 1, longitudinal driving end structure 3, a connecting end structure 4 and an underframe 5, a roof structure 6. The side structure 1 is divided into structural blocks 13-20, making each so as to have necessary strength, and these blocks are finally butted to one another for joining together by means of welding, thus the whole body structure is formed up. The necessary strength is made so as to be satisfied by each bending edge 22 in respective parts and reinforcing materials 29, 35 attached to every part. In addition, each of these blocks 14-20 is completed in advance as a partial body structure by attaching these requisite reinforcing materials 29, 35 and a reinforced plate 26 or the like to each outside plate 21 subjected to drawing into respective essential forms, and they are gathered and butted mutually, joining them together by means of welding, thus the side body structure 1 is formed up.
