Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain bright illuminating light in a wide area and to erase the shadow of pincers as well as to reduce the diameter in the front end part of the endoscope by decreasing the number of light guides for a 2nd illuminative window provided on a slope to the number smaller than the number of light quides for a 1st illuminating window. CONSTITUTION:A side plane 19 is formed alongside the tip side of the side looking type endoscope. The 1st illuminating window 17 and the observing window 27 are provided on this side plane 19. The slope 21 inclining downward is formed between the base end side of the side plane 19 and the side face of the tip part behind this side plane 19 in such a manner that the step between both faces the tip side. The 2nd illuminating window 18, the illuminating direction of which faces diagonally forward, is provided on this slope 21. The number of the light guide fiber bundles (LG) 26 for the 2nd illuminating window is set at the min. required number for auxiliary illumination smaller than the number of the 1st LG bundles 23. The required performance is, therefore, assured and the diameter of the tip part is reduced.
