PURPOSE:To pick up a signal required for vertical centering, by using a memory capable of storing video signals for plural fields' share, and using the video signal of one frame's share as an objective. CONSTITUTION:In selecting switches 17, 17' to the R channel, a video signal of the channel R is binarized at an output of a binary circuit 9, it is processed at an edge signal generating circuit 12, and an edge signal Re of the channel R appears at the output. The output of a binary circuit 8 has a binarized video signal of a channel G, it is processed at an edge signal generating circuit 11 and an edge signal Ge appears at the output. A memory control circuit 20 controls RAMs 18, 19, the binary-coded video signal is sequentially sampled from a horizontal scanning line in the prescribed range including the center of the picture according to the pickup line of the specified vertical centering, written in over two fields in the RAMs 18, 19, and the signal is read out by interpolating every 1st field signal with every 2nd field signal.
