IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVE AND ANTICONVULSANT CONTAINING THE SAME IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVE AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT

NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I {R1 is formula II or III [R3 is halogen, lower alkyl, (substituted) phenyl, etc.; Z is S or O], etc.; R2 is H or lower alkyl}. EXAMPLE:1-(3-Phenyl-5-isoxazolyl)-3-(1-imidazolyl)methylindole hydrochloride. USE:An anticonvulsant. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula IV (R4 is halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, CF3 or CN) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula V to provide a product, which is then reacted with NH2OH and cyclized to afford a compound expressed by formula VI. The resultant compound expressed by formula VI is subsequently halogenated and the resultant product is then reacted with a compound expressed by formula VII to afford the objective compound expressed by formula VIII.
