CHARACTER RECOGNIZED RESULT CORRECTING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To correct an address to a proper address in a short processing period by selecting a definite character from a candidate character group as a recognizing character, deciding the address based on a postal code included in a recognized result by using an address dictionary, and deciding address structure from the recognized result by using an address structure dictionary. CONSTITUTION:When the postal code can be used, by calculating similarity to an address character string obtained by retrieving an address dictionary 6 from the recognized result and the postal code, it is decided whether the address character string obtained by he retrieval from the postal code can be adopted or not. When the postal code can not be used, based on the structure of the address according to an address structure dictionary 5, a method is adopted to accurately separate the character string as the recognized result for each minimum unit. Thus, the number of coupling recognized results to be retrieved is reduced and the processing is enabled in a short period.
