FACSIMILE EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent a document transmitted in a blank sheet of paper or upside down due to an operation error, etc., by calculating a ratio of white point to black point of data read from a transmitted original, and issuing an alarm when the value of the ratio exceeds a threshold value decided in advance. CONSTITUTION:This equipment is comprised of a facsimile unit 10, a counter means 20, a ratio calculation means 30, a black counter 31, a white counter 32, a comparator 40, a comparison value storage register 41, a threshold value holding means 42, an alarm means 50, a buzzer 51, and a display means 52. The data read from a transmitted document is compressed, and the numbers of 1s (black picture element) and 0s (white picture element) are counted from compressed data. The ratio of counted number of 1s to counter number of 0s is calculated, and the value of the ratio is compared with the threshold value decided in advance which decides whether or not the document is the blank sheet of paper, and when it is judged that a comparison result exceeds the threshold value decided in advance, abnormality is informed to a transmitter by issuing the alarm. In such a way, it is possible to prevent the document transmitted in the blank sheet of paper or upside down due to an operation error, etc.
