Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To allow the stable execution of high-density recording with the floating type thin-film assembly by specifying the spacing from the end on the air outflow end side of a slider to a magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The floating type thin-film magnetic head assembly 11 is the ring type magnetic head formed with a thin film of a magnetic converting part (transducer) 13 of a perpendicular direction on the air outflow end side 12a of the slider 12. This head is so constituted as to satisfy relation I when the spacing between the working part (magnetic gap) 13c of this transducer 13 and the end 14a on the air outflow end side of an air bearing surface 12A is designated as l(mum), the attack angle of the slider at the time of stable traveling as theta(murad) and the shortest recording wavelength to be used of the information signal to be magnetically recorded and reproduced as lambdamin(mum). The spacing loss at the shortest recording wavelength lambdamin to be used is then kept within 0.5dB which is a general permissible value. The stable high-density magnetic recording is thus executed.
