COLOR PHOTOGRAPHIC SILVER HALIDE MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To enhance the photosensitive material which is high insensitivity and color density and especially superior in spectral absorption in a magenta wavelength region by incorporating a specified magenta coupler and a specified compound, in at least one of silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION: At least one of the silver halide emulsion layers contains the magenta coupler of formula I or II and the compound of formula III, and in formulae I-III, R1 represents an alkyl or aryl or a ballasting group; R2 represents a ballasting group or alkyl or aryl group; Z represents an H atom or a group to be released by reaction with the oxidation product of a developing agent; R3 represents an alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, optionally substituted amino, or heterocyclic group; and R4 represents an alkyl or aryl or heterocyclic group, thus permitting the obtained photosensitive material to have superior absorption in the magenta wavelength region.
