Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive optical scanner which can easily be assembled and adjusted by providing a scanning-direction switching mirror which is rotated on a perpendicular axis for the switching of a scanning direction and fixed, and fixing two scanning mirrors and one relay mirror. CONSTITUTION:When the scanning direction switching mirror 9 faces an X-direction scanning mirror Mx, a light beam which is deflected by an oscillatory mirror 3 in an X direction perpendicular to the paper surface is reflected by an object on an X-Y stage 8 to make a scan in the X direction by the scanning mirror Mx, and the stage 8 is sent in a Y direction at a fine pitch to scan the whole object 1 in the X direction. Then the stage 8 is moved to move the object 1 to right below a scanning mirror My in a Y direction and the mirror 9 is rotated by 90 deg.C to face the relay mirror 10.
