OPTICAL SCANNER

PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive optical scanner which can easily be assembled and adjusted by providing a scanning-direction switching mirror which is rotated on a perpendicular axis for the switching of a scanning direction and fixed, and fixing two scanning mirrors and one relay mirror. CONSTITUTION:When the scanning direction switching mirror 9 faces an X-direction scanning mirror Mx, a light beam which is deflected by an oscillatory mirror 3 in an X direction perpendicular to the paper surface is reflected by an object on an X-Y stage 8 to make a scan in the X direction by the scanning mirror Mx, and the stage 8 is sent in a Y direction at a fine pitch to scan the whole object 1 in the X direction. Then the stage 8 is moved to move the object 1 to right below a scanning mirror My in a Y direction and the mirror 9 is rotated by 90 deg.C to face the relay mirror 10. When the oscillatory mirror 3 is driven, the light beam which is deflected at right angles to this paper surface makes a scan the slanting surface of the mirror 9 in the up-down direction and its reflected light makes an up-down scan on the relay mirror 10 in the perpendicular direction; and the reflected light from the relay mirror 10 makes an up-down scan on the scanning mirror My in the Y direction on the paper surface and its reflected light makes a Y-directional scan on the object 1 on the stage 8 and is sent i the X direction at a fine pitch to scan the entirety.
