Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic disc substrate made of titanium excellent in the shape and surface roughness, whose outer peripheral part flatness from R40mm to R46mm is less than about 0.15mum and whose mean surface roughness is less than about 0.05mum, by controlling the work face pressure at 10g/cm min. 100g/cm max. and taking the processing time for 5 minutes min. and 60 minutes max. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a magnetic disc substrate made of titanium being subjected to finish polishing by an abrasive cloth, a work face pressure is con trolled at 10g/cm min. and 100g/cm max. and the processing time is made for 5 minutes min. and 60 minutes max. as well. The magnetic disc substrate made of titanium excellent in the shape and surface roughness and whose means surface roughness is about 0.05mum max. and whose outer peripheral part flatness from R40mm to R46mm is about 0.15mum max. can be obtained.
