Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the S/N of a television signal after demodulation by controlling a local oscillating frequency of a channel selection means in response to a reference level or a mean value level in the television signal so as to control the automatic frequency depending on the quantity of the C/N of the television signal. CONSTITUTION:A C/N detection circuit 22 detects a level of a noise component in existence over a frequency band of a television signal included in a demodulated output SFM to detect the C/N of the demodulated output SFM. When the C/N is obtained sufficiently, the automatic frequency control is implemented by the keyed AFC system. Thus, the frequency fluctuation due to a deviation of a local oscillation, temperature drift or secular change in 1st and 2nd frequency conversion sections 3,4 is effectively eliminated to obtain the demodulated output SFM with excellent S/N from an FM demodulator. When the C/N is not sufficiently obtained, the so-called mean value AFC system is adopted to apply automatic frequency control. Then the demodulated output SFM with excellent S/N is obtained from the FM demodulator 9 similarly as above.
