Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To make the compression of a charged particle beam possible by exciting a deflection mode in a synchronization relation between the excited frequency of the deflection mode and the excited frequency of a high frequency acceleration cavity disposed in the charged particle beam orbit. CONSTITUTION:In the orbit of a charged particle beam 103 in a cavity 1, an electric field component is produced in the central orbital direction of the charged particles, while a magnetic field component is produced perpendicularly to the horizontal plane (the orbital plane), forming a deflection mode in the orbit of the charged particles in the cavity 1. Namely the deflection mode is produced which has the electric field component in the orbit of the charged particles and in the central orbital direction and has the magnetic field component perpendicular to the orbital plane. The deflection mode is excited, being synchronized with the basic acceleration mode in a high frequency acceleration cavity. The energy of the charged particle beam 103 is spread more widely and the emittance of a betatron oscillation is lessened for throttling the charged particle beam thin. In this method, the charged particle beam 103 is compressed down to several tenth.
