TREAD ADJUSTING DEVICE FOR HIGH ROAD CLEARANCE DRIVING AXLE

PURPOSE:To enable easy changing and adjustment of tread by slidably engaging a sliding cylinder fixed to right and left final cases with the lower part of an axle housing and by sliding the sliding cylinder crosswise. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear 11 is arranged at a high position against right and left wheel shafts 10, and a middle shaft 12 connected to both sides of this gear 11 is coupled with the wheel shafts 10 through a gear mechanism 17. In the above device, with the lower part of an axle housing 18 for supporting the middle shaft 12, a sliding cylinder 25 in which an escape part 26 of the gear mechanism 17 is cut off is engaged slidably crosswise. One end of the sliding cylinder 25 is fixed to the car body center side of a final case 23 for supporting the wheel shafts 10, and the sliding cylinder 25 is made capable of fixed by a fixing bolt 28. Thus, tread can be easily adjusted by sliding the sliding cylinder crosswise by loosening the fixing bolt 28.
