CHARACTER SEGMENTATION CONTROL DEVICE

PURPOSE:To exactly segment a character even if a character pitch varies by determining the propriety of a character boundary based on sufficient information from a set range before and behind an optional position. CONSTITUTION:A histogram drawing part 41 selects and outputs the frequency data of a part of positions among the frequency data of all the positions located in the set range before and behind the remarked optional position in a character arrangement direction. An arithmetic means consisting of a nerve type circuit 42 and a learning control part 43 inputs the necessary frequency data from the histogram drawing part 41, and the nerve type circuit 42 receives a parame ter (weight factor) stored in the learning control part 43 at any time, and executes arithmetic operation to decide whether the remarked optional position is the position of the character boundary or not. A character pattern segmenting part 44 inputs corresponding character picture data from a memory 11 at the same time as a decided result is inputted, and segments the character. Thus, even in the case the character pitch varies, the exact character segmentation can be executed quickly.
