HUMECTANT FOR COSMETIC AND COSMETIC CONTAINING SAME AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a novel humectant for cosmetics containing an extract obtained from Corhorus olitorius as an active ingredient, having excellent humidifying effects and use feeling, being safe to human body and advantageous in cost and derived from a plant and excellent cosmetics containing the above- mentioned humectant. CONSTITUTION:A humectant for cosmetics containing an extract from Corhorus olitorius which is a plant of Tiliaceae cultured in Egypt as the center and in Syria, Jordan, Iran, etc., as others. The extract from Corhorus olitorius exhibits viscous property even as about 0.1wt.% aqueous solution and simultaneously contains mucopolysaccharide consisting of acidic saccharide such as uronic acid, protein and inorganic substances such as calcium, potassium and phosphorus. The humectant for cosmetics sufficiently satisfies all respects of use feeling, humidifying action, cost, skin-scientific safeness, etc. The cosmetics containing the humectant are cosmetics excellent in humidifying effect and use properties.
