MANUFACTURE OF CONSUMABLE MOLD USING WATER SOLUBLE CORE

PURPOSE:To simply manufacture a casting product having complicate inner shape by dividing a metallic mold body, positioning a water soluble core in mold cavity, packing foaming plastic raw material at circumference of the core, taking out after heating and foaming and removing the water soluble core with water. CONSTITUTION:The metallic mold body 12 is divided and the water soluble core 11 with an outer shape corresponding to inner shape of the metal product is positioned in the cavity part 12a. The granular foaming plastic raw material 13 is packed into the gap at circumference of the water soluble core 11 from an opening part 12b. By heating the metallic mold body 12, the packed raw material 13 is formed with foaming. The metallic mold body 12 is divided and the foamed plastic mold 14 is taken out together with the water soluble core 11. After that, the water soluble core 11 is washed with water or dipped into the water and removed to obtain a hollow mold 15. By this method, the hollow mold without stuck mating face and any core, can be obtd.
