METHOD FOR PACKAGING PLANT, WATER HOLDING MATERIAL USED THEREFOR AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a water holding material capable of retaining freshness of cut plants for a long period by placing a swelled highly water absorbing polymer in the interior of a baglike unit, dipping the cut parts of the plants therein and fastening the mouth of the bag. CONSTITUTION:A highly water absorbing polymer 4 such as hydrolyzed starch acrylonitrile graft copolymer is placed in the interior of a baglike unit 1 such as waterproof sheet of a polyester, etc., and water is added thereto to swell the polymer. Cut parts 5 of plants are subsequently dipped therein to close the bag and the mouth thereof is then narrowed and fastened with a stringy unit 2 to package the plants.
