Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the subject material having lowered electrical resistance by mixing specific amount of one or more kinds of highly conductive raw material such as carbon fiber to a self-sintering material, forming the mixture to a desired shape and subjecting the formed article successively to carbonization treatment and graphitization treatment. CONSTITUTION:A self-sintering material such as meso-carbon micro-beads is mixed with 5-50wt.% of one or more kinds of highly conductive material such as carbon fiber grown in vapor phase and having a fiber diameter of 0.1-1mum and a fiber length of 0.01-1mm. The mixture is formed by cold hydrostatic forming under 0.5-5T/cm . The obtained formed article is carbonized by heating to about 1000-1200 deg.C at a heating rate of 0.01-5 deg.C/min and then heated to about 2000-2800 deg.C at a heating rate of 1-10 deg.C/min to obtain the objective high-density isotropic carbon material having low electrical resistance.
