Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To efficiently subject a pitch raw material to hydrogenation refining and readily obtain a carbon fiber having excellent tensile strength and modulus, etc., by blending a pitch raw material having a specific softening point with a specific petroleum based heavy oil and then heating the blend under prescribed pressure and spinning the blend. CONSTITUTION:A pitch raw material having 90-150 deg.C softening point is blended with a petroleum based heavy oil having 1.0-1.6 in H/C ratio and then the blend is heated to prescribed temperature under prescribed pressure and then the above-mentioned blend after heating is spun to provide the aimed fiber. Furthermore, the pitch raw material has preferably 52-60 fixed carbon.
