Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE: To extend the use period up to the replacement of a nuclear fuel product for a nuclear reactor by subjecting a mixture of granular uranium oxide and a fine granular or powdery additive to compression molding. CONSTITUTION: A mixture of granular uranium oxide and a fine granular or powdery additive is subjected to compression molding to form handleable self- supporting matter or pellets having a proper shape and proper density. Subsequently, the compressed matter is sintered to mutually fuse particles to obtain an integrated ceramic fuel unit. BN, 2ZrB2 , B2 O3 and B6 Si are mixed with a fissionable oxide material consisting of uranium oxide, plutonium oxide and thorium oxide to obtain an improved nuclear fuel compsn. capable of being used within a nuclear reactor over a long period of time. In this case, BN, 2ZrB2 , B2 O3 , and B6 Si are used in a form of powder or fine granules and dispersed over the entire region of ceramic pellets consisting of fissionable element oxides. |
