DATA INPUT DEVICE FOR IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To minimize a space for installing a console panel and to improve operability in inputting data by providing an input key, a pulse generator, a slide detecting means and a control part. CONSTITUTION:The input key 2 having circular plane cross section is rotatably and slidably provided around the axis of the console panel 3 via a shaft 6. The shaft 6 is firmly fixed to the pushing end of a push switch 7 whose top is firmly fixed to the console panel 3, and energized outside the console panel 3 by the pushing end. A disk 5 is firmly and coaxially fixed to the shaft 6. According to the rotating direction of the input key 2 and the number of pulses, which are detected by the pulse generator consisting of the disk 5 and a photointerrupter 4, the number of copies set is increased or decreased. Simultaneously, a copying machine performs a copying action based on the operation of the push switch 7. Consequently, the data input device that requires a minimum console panel installation space and has excellent operability is obtained for an image forming device.
