METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CHECKING SENSOR FUNCTION OF AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE: To perform a propriety check even when any a sensor that is subjected to the propriety check of a signal for detecting whether a function is normal or not is a switch by outputting a failure signal when the switch for receiving the propriety check of the signal is switched and it is judged that the signal is not valid after specified time conditions are met. CONSTITUTION: Since a region change is detected at measurement timings n+2 and n+3, each standby time t' is newly set. Then, it is detected that a voltage from an accelerator pedal position sensor 13 is not exceeded at a point of a timing n+4, where a count value is decreased by a specific value and it is detected whether the standby time is exceeded or not. Then, when a check program is executed, the time t' does not pass at a timing n+5 yet, thus returning to a main program. Then, the time t' passes at a timing n+6, and the position of an idling switch 14 is detected. Then, when non-validity exists, it is regarded that a failure occurred and an emergency means is activated, thus returning to the main program.
