DOCUMENT PROCESSOR

PURPOSE:To prevent the layout or contents of a document from being inadvertently changed during the correction of the document by substituting an inputted character for a character to be overwritten when the character to be overwritten is not a control code. CONSTITUTION:When a character is inputted from an input means 101 in a correction mode, whether the character to be overwritten is a control code or not is decided by a deciding means 104. When the character to be overwritten is not a control code as the decided result of the means 104, the inputted character is substituted for the character to be overwritten by an inserting means 105, and in the case of a control code, the inputted character is inserted between the character inputted immediately before the current character and the control code. Consequently the layout or contents of a document is not inadvertently changed.
