Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To effectively improve the strength and uniformity of split leather at a low cost by treating split leather with an epoxy compound and carrying out graft-copolymerization with a vinyl monomer. CONSTITUTION:Split leather is treated with an epoxy compound such as diglycidyl methacrylate and subjected to graft-polymerization with a vinyl monomer such as methyl methacrylate to form a mutually intruded network structure of a polymer in the interlocked structure of collagen fiber. Consequently, a highly crosslinked graft chain is formed in the collagen fiber to strengthen the split leather.
