Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent an error printing caused by the setting of improper paper by a method wherein a means for displaying a paper feed direction and a printing format, such as a schematic drawing of a printing result, on a display of a host on the basis of the data of printing paper is provided in the host. CONSTITUTION:A main body processor 5 in a host 1 receives the data inputted from a keyboard 12 by an input means 7 and processes the data, thereafter indicating characters and the like on a display plane 11 through an indication means 6. When the main body processor 5 indicates a printing format, it is shown on the display plane 11 through a printing format indication means 8. At this time, a selection image plane indication means 9 allows a user to select whether or not the printing format is displayed. The data selected by the user in accordance with the selection image plane indicated on the display plane 11 is recognized by a selection input recognition means 10.
