Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality beta-BaB2O4 single crystal with high reproducibility by using a BaB2O4-Na2O binary compsn. contg. a prescribed mol percentage of Na2O as starting material and by growing a single crystal by a pulling method. CONSTITUTION:A BaB2O4-Na2O binary compsn. contg. 0.001-30mol%, preferably 0.001-20mol% Na2O is used as starting material and a beta-BaB2O4 single crystal is grown by a pulling method. Since a high-quality beta-BaB2O4 single crystal can stably be obtd. with high reproducibility, it becomes possible to obtain a large-sized crystal and a step toward practical application of beta-BaB2O4 is taken forward.
