MAGNETIC DISK DEVICE

PURPOSE:To make a magnetic head approach a medium to become at a fixed floating height without colliding against the medium by utilizing a thread for elevating the head in a noncontact magnetic disk device. CONSTITUTION:The elevating thread 3 is wound up by a winch motor 4 at the time of stopping a magnetic disk 1. When the disk 1 is started to rotate, first of all, the disk 1 is rotated, and when its revolving speed is raised to a certain extent, the motor 4 is reversely rotated to make the head approach the disk 1. Then, when the head 2 is floated above the disk 1 by a fixed floating amt., the motor 4 is stopped. In this case, the thread 3 is made to be under the non-tension state, which should not however be too slack. At the time of stopping the disk 1, the motor 4 is rotated in the forward direction during rotating of the disk 1, and the head 2 is separated from the disk 1.
