PACKAGING MACHINERY FOR OVER-WRAPPING

PURPOSE:To permit an article having a tendency to deform its package shape to be packaged tightly by correcting the widthwise shift of the article package with the opposite sides of the packaging material raised, folding and holding down the upper parts of such sides on the top surface of the article and rotating a hold-down roller to remove looseness from the lower parts of the aforesaid sides of the packaging material. CONSTITUTION:Packaging material raising units 52 are turned upward about a shaft 9 to arrange an article 1 to be packaged with the opposite sides of the packaging material moving along the corresponding sides of the article and, at the same time, bring a roller 20 into contact with the upper part of each side of the packaging material. A cylinder 16 is then retracted to move downward its brackets 17 and 15, a cylinder 18, a lever 19 and a roller 20 supported by a roller shaft 21. The upper parts of the opposite sides of the packaging material are folded inwardly, the cylinder 18 is retracted to transmit its motion to the roller shaft 21 and the roller shaft 21 and rollers 20 rotate in the direction of the arrow 22 to remove looseness produced on the lower parts of the sides of the packaging material.
