Zusammenfassung:NEW MATERIAL:The antibiotic substance YS-822 having the following properties. Appearance, pale yellow amorphous powder; melting point, 265 deg.C (decomposition); specific rotation, [alpha] =+16 (c=0.1, pyridine); elemental analysis (%), C 53.26-53.70, H 7.28-7.41, N 1.98-2.02; molecular formula, C37H59O14N; molecular weight, 741; color reactions, positive to Molish reaction and ninhydrin reaction, decoloring bromine and KMnO4 and negative to orcinol reaction and FeCl3 reaction; solubility, soluble in n-butanol, ethanol, methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide and pyridine, insoluble in benzene, ethyl acetate, chloroform, dichloromethane and acetone and scarcely soluble in water; etc. USE:Agent for inhibiting growth of yeast and fungi. PREPARATION:A bacterial strain belonging to genus Streptoverticillium [e.g., Streptoverticillium eurocidicus var. asterocidicus (FERM 2477)] is cultured.
