MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic tape, etc., from flawing attending upon the completion of drawing out the tape by bringing one reel under the nonbraking state and changing the other reel into the nonbraking state with an output of a photoelectric transducer. CONSTITUTION:At the tape loading time, the tape 19 is drawn out of the supply reel 10 under the nonbraking state, and the neighborhood of the completion of drawing out the tape from the supply reel 10 is detected as a transparent leader tape by the photoelectric transducer 3 on the side of the supply reel 10 in its output, and hence a supply side reel braking solenoid 11 is operated to be released, so that the supply reel 10 is brought under the braking state, while the take-up reel 8 is pressed by a take-up side reel braking solenoid 9 to be changed under the nonbraking state, so that the tape is drawn out of the take-up reel 8. Consequently, even when the tape loading is performed under the state of insufficiently winding of the tape 19 on the supply reel 10, the leader tape is never wound around a rotary drum 16, thus preventing the magnetic tape 19 and a magnetic head from flawing attending upon the completion of drawing out the tape.
