Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enable industrial reuse of dilute sulfuric acid formed in the concentrated nitric acid production plant as a by-product by stripping the dilute sulfuric acid containing a trace amount of nitric acid with an inert gas at a specific temperature to remove the nitric acid, then feeding the dilute sulfuric acid to the sulfur trioxide absorption process in the concentrated sulfuric acid production plant for concentration. CONSTITUTION:Dilute sulfuric acid containing 50 to 50,000 wt. ppm of nitric acid is stripped with an inert gas (suitably air or steam) at 100 to 180 deg.C to remove the nitric acid components. Then, the dilute sulfuric acid substantially free from nitric acid is fed to the sulfuric trioxide absorption process in the concentrated sulfuric acid production plant for concentration. The concentrated sulfuric acid prepared according to the present invention can be effectively used as an extractant in the plant making concentrated nitric acid according to the Pauling process.
