Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain an anti-foaming agent which is well miscible with nonaqueous paints, allows its drying rate and curing rate to be controlled and has an excellent anti-foaming effect, by copolymerizing a polymerizable (meth) acrylate monomer and a polymerizable vinyl ether monomer. CONSTITUTION:An anti-foaming agent having an average MW of 2,000-150,000 is obtd. by copolymerizing 30-95wt% polymerizable monomer of formula I (wherein R1 is H, methyl; R2 is a 2-22C alkyl, alkenyl) and 5-70wt% polymerizable monomer of formula II (wherein R3 is a 6-22C alkyl). Examples of the monomers of formula I are acrylates and methacrylates, where R2 is ethyl, isobutyl, benzyl, naphthyl or stearyl. Examples of the monomers of formu la II are vinyl ethers where R3 is 2-ethylhexyl, octyl, palmityl or stearyl.
