Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To obtain dialkylbenzene having high content of para isomer by subjecting a dialkylbenzene isomer mixture containing ortho isomer at a specific ratio or above to isomerization reaction in the absence of an alkylating agent and presence of a FriedelCrafts catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Benzene (e.g., benzene, toluene or cumen) which may be alkylated is reacted with an alkylating agent (e.g., propylene) in the presence of a Friedel Crafts catalyst (preferably AlCl3) at 0-120 deg.C for 0. 5-10hr to give an isomer mixture having >=15% o-dialkylbenzene ratio, which is then subjected to isomerization reaction in the absence of an alkylating agent and presence of an Friedel Crafts catalyst (consisting essentially of AlCl3) at 30-100 deg.C to provide the aimed dialkylbenzene having high content of p-isomer. According to the above-mentioned method, paracresol useful as an antioxidant, raw material for medicine and agricultural chemical, etc., is readily obtained. |
