Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a refractory for covering iron tapping trough having light wt. and excellent spalling resistance and erosion resistance and long service life by adding the specific rate of fine carbon powder to a composition containing SiC at the specific rate. CONSTITUTION:To the composition containing 50-85wt.% SiC as chemical component and super fine powder of silica flower and Al2O3 as binder, the carbon fine powder is added at 1-2.5% to obtain the refractory for covering the iron tapping trough in the blast furnace. The above refractory shows the low bulk density and light wt., and excellent wear resistance and erosion resistance and difficult-to-erode, and excellent resistance to heat spalling. Therefore, by using this refractory, the cover for the tapping trough in the blast furnace having light wt. and excellent durability is obtd.
