NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R and R are lower alkyl or one of R and R is lower alkyl and the other is -A -NR R (A is lower alkylene; R and R are lower alkyl or together form a ring); R and R are lower alkyl or one of R and R is lower alkyl and the other is -A -R (A is lower alkylene; R is di(lower alkyl)amino, etc.); R and R are H, lower alkoxy, etc.; R and R are adjacent to each other and together form a lower alkylenedioxy] and its salt. EXAMPLE:Dimethylaminoethyl methyl 4-[2-(3-methyl)butenyloxycarbonyl-3,4- methylenedioxy-5-methoxy]phenyl-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5- dicarboxylate. USE:A preventive and remedy for hepatic diseases. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III and, as necessary, oxidizing the product.
