Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To provide the title agent excellent for improving Stockigt sizing degree and printability, containing, as an effective component, a (co)polymer from (meth)acrylic esters containing butyl methacrylate and another copolymerizable monomer. CONSTITUTION:The objective surface-treating agent containing, as an effective component, a (co)polymer from (A) 40-100 (pref. 60-100)wt.% of a (meth)acrylic alkyl ester containing, as an essential component, pref. 20-100wt.% of butyl methacrylate and (B) 0-60 (pref. 0-40)wt.% of another copolymerizable monomer [e.g., styrene, vinyl acetate, (meth)acrylonitrile, (meth)acrylamide, hydroxyethyl acrylate]. It is preferable that the amount of this agent to be used is as to be 0.005-0.5g/m (on a solid basis) based on a paper to be used.
