Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To easily monitor the abnormality of the corrosion preventing layer of a power cable with a simple device by measuring electric current in the earthing conductor of the cable. CONSTITUTION:The earthing conductor 3 of the sheath 13 of a power cable 1 with one end earthed is fitted with CT 4 for detecting electric current in the sheath 13 and a device 5 for measuring electric current in the conductor 3. Charging current flows through the sheath 13. While power is supplied in the normal state, power transmissition voltage between a conductor 11 and the sheath 13 is constant and charging current flowing through the sheath 13, that is, electric current in the earthing conductor 3 is judged to be also constant. When abnormality occurs in the corrosion preventing layer of the cable 1 and the layer becomes earthed 6, charging current leaks from the earthed part 6 and charging current flowing through the conductor 3 is reduced. The abnormality of the corrosion preventing layer of the cable 1 can be always monitored by always measuring electric current in the conductor 3.
