PURPOSE: To ensure high p-type electric charge transferring ability by forming an electric charge transferring layer contg. a specified 1,2-dihydroquinoline compd. CONSTITUTION: An electric charge transferring layer bonding directly to an electric charge generating layer on an electrically conductive substrate is formed using at least one kind of 1,2-dihydroquinoline compd. represented by formula I in combination with a resin binder. In the formula I, R is H, an aliphatic group or an alicyclic group, each of R and R is 1-5C alkyl or aryl and Z is a group of atoms required to form an arom. ring or an arom. cyclic system by ring closure. The electric charge transferring layer is provided with satisfactory mechanical strength by the resin binder and this layer ensures or maintains sufficiently high ability to retain electrostatic charges for copying. High p-type electric charge transferring ability is ensured.
