METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DECODING BAND DIVISION TYPE CODE

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of encoding, to eliminate necessity to send the information of bit allocation as additional information and to economically utilize a transmitting route by providing plural level estimating devices, etc., in a transmitting side and a receiving side. CONSTITUTION:In the transmitting side, the frequency band of an input signal is divided by a band dividing filter 100 and encoded by plural encoders according to bit information from a bit allocating circuit 170 and a multiplexing signal is outputted from a multiplexing circuit 180. In the receiving circuit, an encoding multiplexing signal to be transmitted is separated per band by a separating circuit 20 and decoding is executed through plural decoders with a bit number to be same an encoding bit number to respective bands. In such a case, based on the value of a high order bit to be determined in advance for an encoding signal, the average signal level of the respective bands is estimated backward through the plural level estimating devices in the both transmitting and receiving sides. In correspondence to the average signal level of the respective bands, since the encoding and decoding is executed by changing the encoding bit number to the respective bands, the encoding quality is improved and the transmitting route can be economically utilized.
