PURPOSE:To make it possible to reduce the assembling man hours for a connecting rod by providing the upper end part of a crank chamber in a position lower than a position in which the head of the connecting rod is arranged and making said rod horizontally movable within the crank chamber. CONSTITUTION:The position of balance weight 13 is set such that a connecting rod 31 comes in the upper dead point in an assembling state. In this state, the connecting rod 13 is inserted through an opening part 3A into a crank chamber 3. When the rod 31 is horizontally moved in the arrow A direction, the balance weight 13 is fitted to a rotary shaft 7. The connecting rod 31 is connected to the rotary shaft 7 by screwing a cap screw 14 into the balance weight 13 by inserting a clamping tool through the lower end opening part 3c after fitting the balance weight 13 to the rotary shaft 7, in such a way, attaining reduction of man hours for assembling the connecting rod 31.
