DETENT MEMBER FOR FLAT CABLE

PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a circuit by providing a plurality of cylindrical portions with hook portions for detenting the end portions of a flat cable which cylindrical portions are formed on a main body for accepting insulated covered portions of a flat cable and for accepting naked cables to be inserted into the cylindrical portions. CONSTITUTION:A detent member 11 is integrally formed with a main body 16 having a cut groove 15 for squeezing an insulation covered portion 14 of the end portion of a flat cable 12 and a cylindrical portion 17 projecting out of the top surface of the main body 16. The cylindrical portion 17 has a small hole 19 for accepting a naked conductor 18 of the end portion of the flat cable 12. The cylindrical portions 17 located on both right and left sides are provided on their fore-ends with integrally formed detent pieces 22 each having a hook 21 for engaging with a printed circuit board 13. As a result, the hook 21, after passing through a wiring hole 20, engages with the back side of the printed circuit board 13 so that the detent member 11 and the flat cable 12 are temporarily secured. This makes it possible to reduce the area required for connecting the flat cable of the printed circuit board.
