Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the water resistance, heat resistance and adhesiveness of a polyester film by reacting a specified acid component with a specified glycol component. CONSTITUTION:The subject polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2-0.8 and a glass transition temp. of 30 deg.C or higher and being homogeneously and finely dispersible in an aq. medium which is substantially free from any org. solvent is obtd. by reacting an acid component (a) consisting of 5-90mol% (merely % hereinbelow) terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid (i), 5-90% 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and/or 4,4-diphenyldicarboxylic acid (ii) and 0.5-5% sodium 5-sulfoisophthalate (iii) with a glycol component (b) consisting of 30-70% 1,4-butanediol and/or ethylene glycol (iv) and 30-70% one or more glycols (v) selected from an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A, an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol S and neopentyl glycol.
